Butterfly Host Plants

Caterpillar Food and/or Host Plants

Different Butterflies prefer different plants as their host, or said another way, as dinner for the children. This is an incomplete list of trees, shurbs and plants that are host plants for one or more type of caterpillar.

A quick look over this list and you may decide that flying flowers (butterflies) may have a price attached; especially if you are trying to grow an Herb garden at the same time. One solution of course is just to plant extra. A second option is to keep the butterfly garden as far away from the herbs and veggies as possible.
